This week-end we travelled into MI 4 hrs. for two days of racing at Whittemore Speedway and Tri-City
Speedway. Unforturnately, the latter didn't happen though because of the rain. We found out early
this morning that the Sunday show was cancelled. It was disappointing, but I guess we were able to
get home at a decent hour. Anyway, Saturday, we were also in a hurry-up show because weather was in
the area. We were confident about going back to Whittemore because that's where we had our best s
howing so far this year. Throughout hot laps, we were trying to get the tightness out of the car. We
finally got that out it during qualifying, but it was a little loose now coming off the turn. We left
it that way for the heat where we started on the pole since the series inverts the first 6 in the heat
with the slower qualifying times starting at the front. At the green, we were able to come out
fast. The outside pole-sitter and I battled side-by-side for 2 laps. The car stayed a little loose
for about 4 laps, but then picked up a huge push. I was able to stay in the thick of things, however,
I was shuffled back to 7th by the drop of the checkers. For the feature, we were going to start 13th out of
15, so we reset everything on the car that we could think of. Again, the car was pretty good early,
but picked-up a big push on entry. I had to punch the brakes a lot to get the car to turn. This
definitely slows down your lap times. Either way, the feature went flag to flag with no incidents,
and we were able to bring the car home in one piece in 11th place. No matter what, this week-end was
a success because we learned a whole lot, and the car came home in one piece!! (unlike the last three
races) Our next race is Sept. 4th in Springport, MI, near Jackson, and then our final races will be
Sept. 18th and 19th in Sandusky, OH!! That's right, our Sept, 9th show has been cancelled.
