Well, there was no way we could get the car ready for Sunday, so Chris Hettinger, the series director, offered that I drive his second car. I accepted, and we headed up to Spartan Speedway. When they were getting the car ready, they noticed that the timing belt was a little chewed up from the night before. So, they replaced it, and finished getting the car ready for hot laps. The first two sessions there really wasn't a set-up in the car, but I was getting used to everything from the quick rack-and-pinion steering to the bigger in-line, over-head cam motor. Luckily, we were able to get a third session, and Chris put more of a neutral set-up in the car. The car felt great even though I almost spun it out once. BUT, on the last lap of the session, heading done the back-stretch, the motor let go. The timing belt broke again, and who knows what else went on internally, so once again, our day was done. I really have to thank Chris Hettinger, Jim Hettinger, and the whole CPT crew for giving me the opportunity to drive the car though. It was a great experience even though we couldn't race. Our next race is August 28th at Whittemore followed by August 29th in Auburn. We only have 5 more races remaining, with our season wrapping up in Sandusky on September 18th and 19th.
