Well, our final race of the Wolverine Outlaw Winged Midget Series took place last Saturday, and didn't go exactly how we wanted it to. Right off the trailer the car had a pretty big push coming off the turns. We tried a few things throughout practice and qualifying, but could really get anything to work. For the heat, we started on the pole, but were overtaken coming off the 2nd turn. Our adjustments really didn't help much, so for the feature we tried something completely different. The car drove pretty well in the feature. We weren't able to keep up with the pack though. About halfway through, the leader at the time came up to lap us and for some reason had to bump me a little. Well, he did the same thing to the next car, and ended up taking himself out. After the restart, I could tell the fuel was starting to run low. I just wanted to get the car home, but with 9 laps left, the rear axle broke coming out of turn 4. I was able to keep the car mostly out of the wall, only brushing it with the rear-bumper. However, it bent the bumper pretty well and crunched the tail tank too. Everything seems pretty fixable though. However, I don't think we're gonna be able to get everything ready for the October USAC show in Columbus. We have a LOT of changes in mind for the car too, so I think we're just gonna focus on next season. So, it looks like our next racing obligation is our WOWMS awards banquet Nov. 5th.
