July 22, Barberton Kart Racing Series
Results
Sunday we took our first trip to Barberton Speedway. I must say that this track is awesome! It's a 1/4 mile oval with long straights and tight turns. Since it was our first time there, we had some learning to do. In the first heat, we started 3rd. We were running 2nd coming down for the white flag when I spun going into the 3rd turn. All day we were fighting a loose condition there, and it just finally came around on me. In the second heat we started 2nd and finished 2nd. We improved the handling of the kart from the first to 2nd heat, but it was still pretty loose. When we got back to the trailer, we looked at our notes and decided to go with a different tire set-up. We started 2nd in the feature which is where we finished, and the kart was under a lot more control. I was very happy with the finish, and we definitely learned a lot about the track. I can't wait to go back with and actual set-up under me. I have to thank John Virtue for letting us borrow his truck, so we could tow the trailer. Without it, we wouldn't have been able to go to Barberton.
