Results
We raced Thursday night at Fremont Raceway Park. It was a double points night, so it made the night interesting we'll say. In the first heat race we started on the pole. I jumped out to an early lead and was feeling quite comfortable with 2 laps to go. Well, going into the 3rd turn, coming down for the white flag, old Rex decided that he was tired of being in 2nd. Eye-witness reports, i.e. Dad, Seth, Andy, etc., say that Rex was at least 3-4 kart lengths back. Rex didn't left off as we went into 3. He used me as a brake, slamming into the side of me hard. The hit caused me to break loose, go down through the infield grass, and I ended up 3rd in the race. Needless to say, I was less than happy about this. Before we even stopped the karts though, Rex was out apologizing, but I had nothing to say to him. This whole ordeal made my Dad pretty upset too. So, for the 2nd heat race we started last/4th and Rex was on the pole. I quickly moved into 2nd and started to hunt him down. We didn't quite have enough though as the kart started to pick up a loose condition going into turn 3. With the heat races down, the line-up for the feature was set, Rex pole, me outside. We had made adjustments to fix the loose condition in 3, but this caused a huge push in 1 for the first couple laps. I ended up spinning on about lap 3, because I had to turn the wheel so much in turn 1. We restarted 3rd, but made back up to 2nd fast. I started to reel in Rex and was right on his bumper when....there was another caution. So we restarted and just when the tires were getting warm, and I was ready to pass.....there was another caution. Well, I believe there were about 5 or 6 cautions in race, not including mine, all at very inopportune moments. Well, needless to say, our kart was much faster on a little longer runs, but we never got any. So, we ended up 2nd on the night. I think that pretty much wrapps up 2nd place in the points standings as well....stranger things have happened though. I have to thank Miller for coming out on Thurs. night and helping us out as well.
