Today was just a great day for racing, and I'm sorry a lot of you missed it! Well, I guess we'll start at the begining. I drew a great pill, so I started on the pole for the first heat race. Our good buddy Rex started on the outside pole. Oh...I should also say that for some reason they ran the Light class with us today...at least they started behind us. Anyway, on the start, Rex thought that was gonna be able to dive down in front of me in the first turn. Well, that didn't happen because I didn't give an inch as he came down. We bumped and it ended up sending him up the track and I took the lead. There were numerous cautions throughout the heat race, but we ended up winning it. The second heat race we started last in our class, but that was actually 4th on the grid because of the Lights. So...on the first start....I didn't get the best start and the Light karts pulled up beside me. Well, one of them got a little anxious and ran over the other one sending them up the track in from of me. I had to take some evasive action into the grass off the back-stretch, but didn't hurt anything on the kart. Luckily we had a lap in so we had a single file restart. Well, this time I had a little better start and was working on 3rd when the Lights decided the wanted to mix it up a little again. The one pulled beside me going into 3 and bounced into me, while the other one proceeded to punt me in rump and send me spinning. Needless to say I was not a happy camper. So, I got to restart 4th again since the other two weren't in my class. It's a good thing too because if I started behind them, they might have both ended up on their heads. Anyway, there were about 5 laps left when we went back to green. I quickly moved into 3rd and started to hunt down the leader, Rosebrock, and 2nd Rex. I got up to them with 2 to go. Coming down for the checkers, I moved up beside Rex going into turn 3 for 2nd place. Well, he decided he didn't like that much and moved down on me. Me...not liking that much....turned the wheel right and tried to take him into the grass off the front stretch, but he ending up beating me by inches to the flag. So....we started 2nd in the feature...with Rosebrock on the pole and Rex 3rd. After numerous attempts at a start....mostly because we were waiting for the one Light kart to get on the track....I was hung on the outside for the first lap. Rex was ahead of me going into the first turn, but wasn't when we came out. The rest of the feature Rosebrock and I battled for the lead. I could get up beside him, but couldn't pull past. He started using my line through 1 and 2 too which made him even harder to pass. So we ended up 2nd on the day, but it was a good, close, tiring race. I was definitely one whipped puppy when I got out of the kart. Also, we pretty much put Rex in his place too....he wasn't even close to 1st or 2nd. I have to thank Andy for coming out and helping us out again. I know he had fun...as usual. Oh...and we also ran our fastest lap ever at FRP, a 10:38. And I have to thank everyone that helped us out all year, Kremer, Andy, Seth and Stan, and everyone that came out to watch and support us. All and all it's been a great year.
