June 24th, BKC at Fremont

Over 90 karts show up at Fremont Raceway Park for the fourth race of the Buckeye Karting Championship. We had 10 in our class which made it very interesting on the 1/10th mile oval. I started 9th in the first heat and coming up through traffic was tough. I kept the nose pretty clean though and was just edged out at the line for 2nd. For the second heat I started on the outside pole but quickly found out the kart was not right. The track had heated up a lot and was really slick and greasy. The kart was really loose, but I manage to finish 4th. So by virtue of our 3rd and 4th place finishes, I lined up 4th for the feature. Being on the outside, I got freight-trained on the start again and dropped back to 6th or 7th. By 8 laps, I had cleared most of the traffic and was working for 3rd. We were going three wide down the front stretch when the guy on the outside spun bringing out a caution. I restarted 4th and it took a couple laps of close hard racing to get into 3rd. That left about 4 laps to run-down the leaders which didn't happen, so we ended up 3rd. With that finish, we should have moved into 3rd for the BKC points.
