July 29, Barberton Kart Racing Series

Results

Sunday we hauled to Barberton Speedway for our second outting on the fast, challenging 1/4 mile. With an actual set-up under the kart, we went into hot laps and found we only had to tweek to kart a little bit. We started 3rd in the first heat race and after a little slicing and dicing early, we settled into the draft 3rd and finished there.    We started on the pole for the second heat race, and after a lot of close hard racing, we finished 3rd again. So, that means we started 3rd in the Feature right behind Seth. On the start, we got a much needed push from behind, and came out of 2 in 2nd. We were still in 2nd with about 3 laps to go when we came up on lapped traffic again. I chose to take the high line through 1 and 2 to make the pass, but didn't quite get beside the lapped kart so he could see me. He continued to run his line, and I had to lay-off which let the guy behind me to pass. Again, I was able to get back up to the 2nd place guy, but ended up 3rd. I have to thank Eric Kremer for coming out to Barberton and helping us out. It was definitely fun, and we were learned a lot again.
