September 2nd, BKC at Barberton
Results
Well, we'll start at the begining. We were 7 points behind Rex in the championship race. We needed 6 karts to show up to even have a chance, luckily 7 showed. I started last in the first heat race and finished 2nd to Seth. By the way, out first heat race didn't start till 3pm....we'd been there since 8am. The second heat race I started on the pole, and finished 2nd to Seth. So, I started on the outside pole for the feature, around 8pm now, and finished 2nd to Seth. Rex had slipped into 2nd on the start though, and I had to cautiously pass his squirrly butt, by the time I got past him there were 3 laps left. So anyway, in the BKC rules, it states, clearly, in two (2) different places that mufflers are MANDANTORY for the 4 cycle classes. Rex's kart was the only, THE ONLY 4 cycle kart that WAS NOT running a muffler. THE ONLY kart in out of ALL the 4 cycles. So after the feature was run, we protested him. With the BKC rules in hand, I went to Jay and said we're posting them.....they aren't running a muffler. Jay said, "I told them they could run the open header.....I can't DQ them." I said, "What?!! That's BS...the rules state right here.....Mufflers Mandantory....these are your rules. And if open headers were allowed....why didn't you tell anyone else??" He said, "So what do you want me to do?" I told him, I want you to DQ them, they're ******* illegal. You're telling me your rules don't mean crap? So anyway, he kept saying he couldn't DQ them....and then he said he'd be back with his decision. Meanwhile, me and my dad are getting pissed. And Jay went around askig his staff and the tech man stuff. When he came back....he said he couldn't DQ them....our protest was rejected. He said he was sorry, but he just had too many rules and he couldn't remember them all. I told him that was BS, and told him thanks for sticking by his ******' rules....and we proceeded to pack up and head home. Mind you, I had a 6 hr drive from Barberton back to Valpo that night. I got back here about 1am Central time. Oh and another thing, Rex runs Clampett motors....Jay had Clampett's on his kid's kart too. That's interesting don't you think? So...that's pretty much the story. We finished 2nd in the BKC points because the ILLEGAL kart wasn't DQ'd.br>
