July 7th, FRP Points Race #7

Results

Most of the day Saturday didn't look promising for racing because of the threat of rain, but the rains held off and we were able to get the full show in at Fremont. The track was really tough to get ahold of because of the cloudiness all day. It was really cold and lacked grip. For once, both Rex and I had great pill draws and we started 1, 2 in the first heat. Which is exactly how we finished as well, him 1, me 2, in a rather uneventful race. The 2nd heat race we started 4th and finished 4th. Traffic was tough and the handling of the kart had definitely changed. When we got it back in, we found out that the stagger had changed. So for the Feature we made some educated guesses on our adjustments and they worked. Starting 3rd, I pulled to the lead coming out of 2 and led till the half-way point. Rex got around me going into 3, but never pulled away, and I was on him, setting him up till two laps to go. That's when all hell broke loose. Just when I was setting up the pass going into 1, I hit something on the track....and then my over-limit light started going erractic. Both these things distracted me enough that Rex pulled about a 3 kart length lead and won....we finished 2nd. The point standings should remain about the same, with us still in 2nd. I'd like to thank Andy, Brian, and Kremer for coming and helping us out too. Six more hands doing even the littlest things help out immensely.
