This week we went down to Mansfield Speedway to try our luck with the USAC Regional series. And even
though there were only 11 cars that signed-in, all of these cars were stout. The fast qualifier broke
the track record that the National series had set there!! So just because these are the more local
regional guys doesn't mean they aren't fast. The bright spot of our night was that we were able to
drop our lap times by 1/2 a sec from when we unloaded, and also we finished all 30 laps of the feature!
With all the bad-luck we've had a Mansfield, that was quite an accomplishment. The heat race provided
some excitement as I was able to stay with the pack the whole race. A front running car spun a couple
times though making it a little dicey to avoid him. It ended up that he had a broken shock which they
found after the race. In the feature, I hung with them for a little bit, but it became very apparent
that we were well out-horsepowered as they pulled away. It ended up to be a good night though since
we didn't break anything, and came home in one piece. Our next race is at Spartan Speedway. The 1/4
mile bull-ring that we should be pretty competative at again.
