Well, as you can see from the summary, we really didn't have much of a day 'racing' yesterday at the racetrack. The bad-luck bug continues to bite, but hopefully we'll be able to shake it soon. It was our first visit to M40 Speedway, and it looked like a fun track to race on. After waiting for about 5 hrs. before the track was open for practice, we got all suited up and ready to go for some practice laps in the 96° heat. We were the first car to push off, and I knew there was a problem as we started to go. The oil pressure wasn't coming up since the engine wasn't turning over. They pushed us back into the pits so we could look at it. Again, the drive-line would not stay in gear. We thought we had everything fixed from the situation in K-zoo...apparently not. We decided it was best to get back home, so we could find out what was really wrong. After the 3 hr haul back, we tore the rear-end out to get it ready to check out. We figured since we had that out, we might as well check the drive-shaft too. When I pulled it out, the side closest to the engine was filled with aluminum! This was not good considering the U-joint is aluminum. Once we got everything apart, we had found that the U-joint basically disinegrated which is why nothing would stay in gear. We're still not sure if there's anything wrong else with the rear-end. Hopefully that will be checked tomorrow. Either way, we should be all ready to go for next week-end's race at Springport, MI. I have to extend an enormous amount of thanks to Bob Mandeville and his crew: Julie Mandeville, Tony Castell, Jason Slasher, and Libby Caufman for helping us out as much as they could. Also, a big congratulations to them for getting through the race with no problems....good job! I hope everyone had a happy father's day, and we'll see you at the track!
