We bounced back with a pretty solid finish this week, and there weren't too many problems we encountered either! When we unloaded, the car was pretty comfortable. The first hot laps we were a little loose on entry. After that though, the car was tight coming off the turns all night. Our qualifying laps went pretty well, as we set down the 3rd fastest time. The top two cars were pretty much in a league of their own though. For our heat, we started on the outside of the front row. I was able to take the lead on lap 2 and led a lap or two before the fast car for the night, Chris Hettinger, was able to get by. We ended up coming home 2nd in the heat even with the car a little tight. In the feature, we started 4th. Off the start, the front-row cars were pretty evenly matched as I looked for a hole to get through. I took the outside line since it seemed to moving a little faster. The car was still a little tight coming off the turns, so Hettinger was able to get under me. But, I was able to get past the 2nd place car on the outside. We stayed in 2nd for a lap or two before being passed by the 2nd fastest car for the night, Derek Bischak. I was able to settle in to a groove and started ticking of the laps. With 3 laps to go, Bischak lost his brakes and brought out the caution. This closed us right on the bumper of Hettinger. I had a great re-start and stayed there going into 1, but the car pushed up in 2, and Hettinger pulled away. We weren't able to reel him in at either before the checkers. We were VERY happy with how things turned out though especially after some of our recent luck! Well, our next race will be July 6th at Toledo Speedway, and then July 7th at Mansfield Speedway. These shows are with the USAC National guys, so we'll definitely have our work cut-out for us.
