Our double-race Labor Day week-end started off fast and furious on Friday, August 29th. We took the
midget out for it's last race this season at the tight 1/4 mile of Spartan Speedway. The weather was
almost perfect the whole night. During practice, we were trying to sort the car out since we tried
something a little different with the springs. For qualifying, we made a very minor adjustment, but
the car was really loose in the center of the turns which brought an 11th place time. This put us on
the pole of the first heat. The car handled ok during the race, but we needed just a little big more
pull off of the turn. So, for the feature we made a gear change and minor chassis adjustment. The
feature was hairy to start with a couple of cautions in the early laps. Our changes work though
because the car handled great down low. I made the mistake of not staying there the whole time, but
we were able to move up in the 25 laps, with only a slightly bent right-side nerf bar, bringing home a
6th place finish. Also, we got the Hard Charger award for moving up the most positions from our
starting position. We only have one more race left in what seems to be this short 2008 season! On
September 20th, we will be racing the sprint-car at Baer Field Speedway in Ft. Wayne, IN. Hopefully
some of you, I'm looking in your direction Ft. Wayners, are able to make it out to the track to enjoy
some racing action!
