This week-end we headed out to Ft Wayne for our 2nd time at Baer Field this year. As with our other
trips there, it did not turn out too well. We went out with a new set-up to hopefully help the car
turn-in on entry. During the first hot lap session, the car still didn't want to turn too well. We
made some adjustments before the 2nd hot lap session, and they really helped the car turn better. So
for qualifying, we put a little more of that adjustment in. When they pushed me off for qualifying
the car seemed to being running great on the warm-up lap. When I went to get to speed though, the
engine would not 'clean-out' and just spit and sputtered at the high RPMs. I did put in one timed lap
in case we could figure out what the problem was. In the pits, we changed spark plugs and went
through just about everything. We did not change the magneto though since we probably couldn't get
the ignition timing right. Everything was done in time for the heat, but we decided if it didn't
clean-out right away, I would pull-off. Well, it didn't clean-out, so I pulled-off and we headed
home. The problem seems to be something with the magneto. We should find out if it is anything major
tomorrow, and if we will be running next week-end at Angola. I will keep you posted if the damage is
more major. Otherwise, plan on us running at Angola Motor Speedway on Septemeber 6th!
