Well, this week-end was great weather for racing, and started off pretty well too. The finish wasn't the best though. We returned to Ft. Wayne for the 2nd time this season. During the first hot laps session, the car was pretty comfortable. It turned in well, and rotated pretty good in the center. In the second hot lap session, we put new rear tires on to break them in for qualifying. The stagger was a little less which caused the car to be tighter in the 3rd and 4th turns. But, since we were breaking in the tires, I wasn't pushing the car hard and felt driving it harder in qualifying it would be fine. Well unfortunately, that wasn't the case because driving it harder in qualifying made the push worse. I was able to get a faster time then we practiced which put us 13th. For the heat, we started out 2nd, on the outside pole. We put the stagger back in the car, and it handled great for the first couple laps! I was able to get a really good start, and took it hard into the 1st turn. I was able to lead the first couple laps before the car started to get a little loose in the center and off the turn. Coming off 2 on the 3rd lap, the 2nd place car was able to get past, and on the next lap I dropped back to 3rd at the same place. I was able to hold that spot until the end, even after a late caution. For the feature, we decided to keep the more stagger in the car. However, due to the 5 classes at the track, we didn't go on the track until after 11pm. On the start, again the car handled pretty well. I was able to make it up to about 11th before the car started to get loose again in the center. It really depended on where and how hard I entered the turns though. Coming out of 4 on lap 12 though, the car became really loose. I thought I had it saved, but it started to rotate more and then the car behind me ran right over the front of the car. It ended up bending the left-front shock, destroying the nose wing, put a hole in the top wing, and various other body-work damage. Needless to say, our night was done. We ended up being scored 15th. It looks like we should have everything ready for our next race, September 5th at Angola Speedway though.
