Hello Everyone! Well, for our second race of the season we were back at the Toledo Speedway, but this time without a wing. The professional teams of USAC were in town, and we figured if nothing else, we could learn a whole lot again. Throughout practice, the car seemed to be really loose off of the turns. So for qualifying, we made a slight shock adjustment which ended up making the car very tight off of the turns. Our qualifying time put us on the pole of the first heat race. Since our time was a bit slower than the rest of the cars, simply stayed out of everyone's way once the green was thrown. The adjustments we made for the heat helped, but the car was still pretty tight off the turns. While making adjustments for the feature race, my cousin Andy suggested letting the car drift out to the wall more on the exit of the turns, essentially making the straight-away longer. So, with our adjustments and that advice we went into the feature race. Once the green was thrown, the car felt a lot more comfortable. As the field strung-out a little, I adjusted my line, and the car drove even better. We were able to drop our lap times by half-a-second by that line change! The leaders did eventually catch-up to me though, and since I wasn't looking forward to an incident like last year, I ended up pulling in. Other cars had alredy dropped out of the race though, so we ended up coming home 10th, our first USAC top 10! I have to thank everyone that made it out to watch, and help out with the car, Andy Atkinson, Mark Pridemore, and as always, my dad as well!!
